FORM GUIDE: Bulega aims to match Chili as Razgatlioglu closes in on record podium streak
Italian star Bulega is just one win away from going level with Pierfrancesco Chili’s tally, while Razgatlioglu’s podium streak is currently the third-longest
The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship heads to the Circuito Estoril for the penultimate round of the 2025 season, with some big milestones on the horizon at the EICMA Estoril Round. Some of the stats and facts you need to know ahead of WorldSBK’s latest visit to Portugal are gathered below.
896 – Countdown for Great Britain: they count 896 podiums at the moment, an all-time record.
293 – In the last race at Aragon, the riders on the field summed up 293 wins, just one short of the all-time record of 294 set at Donington earlier this year.
87-88 – After the Magny-Cours weekend, Razgatlioglu reached the highest podium percentage for a manufacturer ever recorded in WorldSBK. His value of 87.7% (50 out of 57) surpassed the 87.5% of Kevin Magee, with the latter climbing 7 times on the podium in just 8 races run for Yamaha. This value increased further, reaching 88.3% after Aragon. Among the riders with at least 50 starts for a manufacturer, his best rival is Jonathan Rea at 80.9% for Kawasaki (221 out of 273).
85 – Bautista and Razgatlioglu can become the first pair of riders with 86 podiums shared. At the moment they share the all-time record with the Rea-Razgatlioglu pair.
43 - Ducati are yet to record a pole position at Estoril. So far, they’ve recorded pole position at 43 tracks out of 54 they’ve visited in their history.
31/66 – In his first 63 WorldSBK races, Bulega has recorded 31 second places. His 16 second places this year, and the 15 last year, however, are still distant from the season record of Razgatlioglu, that in 2023 was 20 times second, 18 behind Alvaro Bautista.
23 – The 23rd of February is the only race day of this season without Razgatlioglu scoring points. Since then, when the Championship headed to Europe, he scored 503 points to Bulega’s 425.
21 – Razgatlioglu is on his best podium streak: 21 races (since Cremona: only winner or second). He is tied with Rea (Lusail 2014 Race 2 to Sepang 2015 Race 2). In WorldSBK history, there are only two longer streaks: the all-time record of Colin Edwards: on the podium in all the 25 races of the 2002 season; 24 straight podiums for Rea from Laguna Seca 2018 Race 1 to 2019 Imola, Tissot Superpole Race.
20 – In 2021, Estoril became the 20th track in which Rea won, setting a new record in WorldSBK history. He then improved and is at 22 now.
18/16 – In the 16 races run so far at Estoril, 18 different riders stood on the podium.
16 – Bulega is just one win short of the third most successful Italian rider, Frankie Chili (17 wins). In the first two spots are Marco Melandri at 22 and Max Biaggi at 21. At the age of Bulega, no one of the aforementioned had scored a single WorldSBK win.
16 – Ducati lead for podiums here: 16 to Yamaha’s 14.
12 – Toprak Razgatlioglu is the only rider who climbed on the podium 12 times here, all his Estoril races. Jonathan Rea follows at 6.
10 – Estoril has so far had 10 different winners out of 16 races run. The only ones to record more than a win have been Toprak Razgatlioglu (4), and Jonathan Rea (4).
5 – Estoril is the only track in WorldSBK history where 5 different winners won the first 5 races run (Davide Tardozzi and Stephane Mertens in 1988, Fabrizio Pirovano and Carl Fogarty in 1993, Toprak Razgatlioglu in 2020 Race 1).
5 – With Bulega’s win in the Superpole Race last year, Ducati became the most successful manufacturer here at 5, leaving Kawasaki at 4. On the winner’s list also Yamaha (3), Bimota (2) and BMW (2).
2-2 – The record of pole positions here is shared between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu, 2 each.
1 – In 2020, the Tissot Superpole Race at Estoril was the stage for the first Yamaha podium lockout in WorldSBK history.
1 – In 2020 at Estoril, Toprak Razgatlioglu took his maiden pole position, the first for a Turkish rider. Last year, a similar milestone, as it was his first pole… in wet conditions.
